Rosa klub ČR is a nationwide self-governing section of Czech Union of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners . It associates rose lovers, growers and breeders; it manages general rose promotion being a proud member of World Federation of Rose Societies. Both specialists (botanists, managers of public gardens and parks , nursery owners, ...) and enthusiastic amateurs are represented. Rosa klub was established in 1968, but it continued the tradition of the pre-war Czechoslovak Rose Society (est. 1929). In the late eighties we had about 2000 members; after the Revolution their number temporarily declined, and therefore we gladly welcome any new involved member. The main club tasks are: to issue the bulletin "Zpravodaj" for its members, to organize International Rrose Contest in Hradec Králové, as well as annual member meetings, to take the auspices over regional meetings and shows, to organise trips for members etc. Rosa klub guarantees the promotion of Czech rose news abroad and vice versa, which includes wide international cooperation with foreign rose societies.
Twice a year Rosa klub publishes its Zpravodaj; the A5 format gazette brings various kinds of information – invitations, reportages, expert articles, advice ... Zpravodaj is also the only periodical in our country to inform about rose shows and competitions regularly. It also brings all up-to-the-minute information about cultivation news.
Rosa klub regularly organises member meetings in June or July, when roses are in full bloom. So we try to arrange meetings in places, where many beautiful roses can be seen and further erudition obtained. We also regularly enrich our general assembly with slideshows and lectures on botanical and horticultural subjects.
Regional offices organize their own events. Exhibitions and reunions thus represent a more personal way to meet and discuss rose-related topics.The offices are estabilished in Prague, Pilsen, Brno, Hradec Králové, Olomouc, Frenštát p. R; Rosa klub in Kralupy n. V. exists autonomously. The existence of the regional offices ensure the development of local activities and helps members to keep in touch with Club.
Rosa klub's membership in World Federation of Rose Societies since 1996 guarantees that we get all the fresh information about the events in the world of roses. WFRS associate rose fans from nearly 40 countries; we regulary obtain its periodical, the "World Rose News". Rosa klub also cooperates separately with a variety of foreign societes, parks, gardens, nurseries and clubs. An ideal opportunity to meet friends among other rose-lovers from all around the globe!
